Aesthetic Crown lengthening: planning and surgical techniques

This presentation will focus on crown lengthening surgery from a periodontist’s perspective, covering the diagnosis, technical challenges, and surgical techniques applicable to aesthetic crown lengthening. Emphasizing the essential principles of case selection, diagnostic planning, and interdisciplinary coordination, the lecture will also explore prosthodontic considerations—from diagnosis and mock-ups to effective communication with the periodontist. Attendees will gain valuable insights into designing restorations that align with ideal gingival contours, maintain biologic width, and achieve predictable, patient-centered outcomes in restorative and aesthetic dentistry.

You will learn:

  • Review the diagnostic criteria applicable to surgical crown lengthening.
  • Compare and contrast surgical techniques used with case examples to illustrate the process.
  • Treatment plan surgical crown lengthening according to your diagnosis.
  • explore the diagnostic tools and criteria necessary for planning aesthetic crown lengthening from a prosthodontic perspective.
  • understand the key aspects of communicating treatment goals and mock-ups with the periodontist for precise surgical execution.
  • learn how to navigate different restoration choices to respect biologic width and align with ideal gingival architecture for long-term success.
