Alveolar ridge preservation and minor GBR
Rationale and treatment protocol for performing alveolar ridge preservation in patients who need to have teeth extracted. The ridge preservation technique is scientifically supported to provide benefits for patients receiving both implant therapy and prosthodontic therapy.
This program will also cover minor bone grafting techniques for implant placement. The treatment protocols will be supported by the scientific literature and a hands on component enabling participants to experience the handing of different materials. There is also an online component of this course, details of which will be provided upon registering.
Learn to:
- identify when and how to use ridge preservation procedures
- determine which materials provide the most predictable and stable treatment outcomes
- implement a simple decision tree for patients
- implement minimally traumatic techniques for extractions and soft tissue handling into daily practice.

Dr Mahnaz Syed
Dr Mahnaz Syed is a UK trained specialist periodontist who holds specialist registration in the UK and Australia. She teaches specialist university programmes in both countries.
Dr Syed's specialist training was completed with distinction in 2001 at Queen Mary University London, where she received the Frank Ashley scholarship. She then completed a three year research programme into aggressive periodontitis and treatment outcomes. Dr Syed has worked in Australia for the past 15 years at her specialist clinic, Elite Perio.
