Aseptic technique: standard and surgical OCTOBER
How well do you understand the concept and application of aseptic technique and do you have a documented protocol or plan?
Aseptic technique in theory and practice is scaled to reduce the risk to patients who are undergoing varying degrees of invasive procedures. The Dental Board of Australia in their self reflective tool, asks you to consider your understanding and application of aseptic technique in these circumstances.
Together we can identify these procedures, as well as develop and document an appropriate aseptic technique protocol.
Experience a truly practical session by exploring the options of your current surgery layout, develop a plan and protocol to implement routine and surgical aseptic techniques. Practise waterless surgical hand scrubbing, gowning and gloving, and maintaining a sterile field, including the use of implant kits and handpieces.
You will learn:
- how to determine the appropriate aseptic technique based on the procedure, your specific circumstances and recognised standards
- surgical hand hygiene technique options – traditional and waterless hand scrubs
- surgical gowning and gloving techniques including safe removal
- the importance of preparing for and ensuring support during surgical procedures
- how to establish and maintain an aseptic field for simple and complex procedures
- the importance of the equipment manufacturer’s instructions for use particularly for implant kits and surgical handpieces
- strategies to reduce the risk of inhalation and ingestion of kit components.
This program covers procedures performed under local anaesthetic, not IV sedation or general anaesthetic.
After this session, you can stay on for lunch and join us for a dedicated reprocessing program. Book now.
