Cyber attack - Are you ready? Practical advice to protect your practice from cyber threats

As dentists, we are the custodians of our patient’s personal data. With a number of our colleagues falling victim to cyberattacks, it is necessary not only to understand our privacy obligations but to be able to put in place effective barriers to protect ourselves and our patient’s data.

Digital patient records offer a lot of convenience to the dental practice, but risks are associated with this convenience. Practitioners need to protect themselves from loss of records, interception of electronic communication and digital attacks. The presentation will cover the threats to your practice and provide practical and effective cyber-security solutions. We will discuss the usual methods of ingress into a practice network and some methods to

  • Secure your practice’s network from external attacks
  • Provide guidelines and set up limits for employees
  • Increase employee awareness of cybersecurity and cyber threats
