First Aid training for the whole practice SEPTEMBER
In this course, you will learn CPR skills on both an Adult and Infant in line with the Australian Resuscitation Guidelines whilst utilising the universal pneumonic ‘DRSABCD’. Further you will learn to use an Automated defibrillator (AED), demonstrate the recovery position and what to do if the casualty regurgitates or vomits.
A Cardiac Arrest is a sudden and life-threatening medical emergency that requires immediate intervention as the delay in prompt treatment can significantly compromise an individual’s health and lead to death. However, through practicing the chain of survival with early recognition and call for assistance, early CPR and early defibrillation, the chances of survival can increase dramatically.
This course also prepares you to be able to respond to a various range of medical emergencies, where you will have the capacity to diagnose, recognise and implement first aid management and Basic Life support until professional medical help arrives. These presentations include anaphylaxis, asthma, non-life-threatening bleeding, chocking, envenomation, fractures, sprains and strains and nosebleeds and implement their correct management.
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
• Recognise and diagnose the signs and symptoms of a cardiac arrest and demonstrate CPR on an unconscious, non-breathing adult and infant.
• Demonstrate effective and safe use of an AED, delivering at least one shock.
• Identify when and how to manage an unconscious breathing casualty.
• Diagnose a range of first aid presentations, including anaphylaxis, asthma, non-life-threatening bleeding, chocking, envenomation, fractures, sprains and strains and nosebleeds and implement their correct management.
This is a nationally recognised and accredited training course that is required to be linked to your government USI number (unique student identifier) as an industry requirement.
