This event is a two-part blended model, consisting of a recorded lecture and workshop. Once registered, you will receive confirmation for the workshop held on Friday 22 September 2023.

This module also includes a 1.5-hour lecture, which you must view prior to the workshop. 

Speakers

A/Prof. Tino Mercado 

A/Prof. Tino Mercado is an experienced periodontist with private practices in Penrith and the Blue Mountains NSW (Specialist Periodontal and Implant Centre).

His PhD topic and latest publications in peer-reviewed high impact journals are on predictable management of peri-implantitis and management of periodontal recession on teeth and implants using autologous and alternative tissues. 

A/Prof. Mercado recently received the Australian Dental Association NSW Service Medallion award for 2022. He is an Adjunct Assoc. Professor at the University of Queensland Periodontal Post-Graduate Program and part of the planning committee at the University of Sydney Post-graduate Dental Implant Course.

A/Prof. Tino Mercado is the Vice President of the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy of NSW. He is a periodontal examiner at the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) and a Regional Committee member of RACDS. A/Prof. Tino Mercado is the Director for Western Sydney and  the Greater Blue Mountains International Team of Implantology (ITI) Study Club.  

He is twice recipient of the prestigious National and Health Medical Research Council Scholarship (NHMRC, 1998 for MDSc and 2011 for PhD) with his cumulative research works cited 1300 times (as of June 2021). A/Prof. Tino Mercado's last clinical research on maxillary anterior ridge preservation won Best Clinical Research at the last Osteology World Symposium. His clinical research on recession management of more advanced gingival recession (Miller Class III-IV), using CTG and enamel matrix derivative won best research at the last biennial meeting of the Australian Society of Periodontology held in Perth.
