Introduction to implant restorations
This introductory course on the restoration of single implants covers the critical principles and procedures involved in planning and restoring single implants for effective and long-lasting results. Participants will engage in hands-on learning with analogue and digital impressions, provisional restoration techniques, and the intricacies of creating optimal contours. The course includes an in-depth look at definitive restorative options, crown insertion, and maintenance strategies to ensure implant longevity.
Learn to:
- Recognise different kinds of prosthetic implant componentry and their indications
- Identify key factors in patient selection and site assessment for single implant placement.
- Demonstrate proficiency in taking accurate analogue and digital impressions for single implants.
- Understand and execute provisional and definitive restoration techniques, focusing on implant contour, occlusion, and maintenance.

Dr. Dinusha Sevwandi Goonawardhana
Dr Dinusha Goonawardhana completed her undergraduate degree at The University of Melbourne in 2005 and has been a practising dentist on the Mornington Peninsula. She has completed her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics at The University of Melbourne and is a registered specialist Prosthodontist. Dinusha has a special interest in complex cosmetic cases including ceramic restorations and has lectured on this for both local and international conferences. Dinusha also divides her time with lecturing at the University of Melbourne and private practice in Hawthorn and Frankston, and is the current President of the Australian Dental Association Victoria Branch Peninsula Group and Secretary of the Australasian Dental Association Victoria Branch Inner East group.
