Maintaining the oral health of ageing patients

Maintaining the oral health of ageing patients

With Australians keeping their teeth for longer, dentists are required to manage what feels like a ticking oral health timebomb. The mouth of older patients is complicated by a minefield of factors including cumulative dental disease and treatment, chronic conditions, polypharmacy, frailty, and dependency.  This webinar aims to help equip the general dentist with an understanding of ageing, its impact on oral health, and tools to navigate this journey with their patients.

Learn how to:

  • recognise the important association between oral health and frailty.
  • identify the factors in their patients as they age that increase the risk of dental disease and strategies to address them.
  • understand tools that may assist them with decision making as patients become more dependent and frail.
