Mastering new patient exams for stress free dentistry

Hear from two presenters who will guide you through effective communication techniques with new patients.

How to perform the perfect New Patient Examination

Presented by Dr Kalyan Voruganti

A new patient examination can be daunting. Finding a simple, effective, repeatable workflow is key. This will help you win the patient over, diagnose what you need to and encourage them to book in so that you can perform the necessary treatment. We will cover the basics of building rapport, taking notes, photos and verbal skills.

You will learn to:

  • build a rapport with your patients
  • take the right photos and efficient notes
  • manage planning more complicated cases.

Getting patients on board with your ideal treatment plan

Presented by Dr Becky Chen

When conveying dental conditions and treatment options to patients, it is important to ensure that we  communicate effectively. Learn why some patients may not uptake treatment from you and strategies to prevent this.

You will learn to:

  • deeply connect with the patient and address their concerns
  • understand different ways in which people communicate
  • implement different communication styles to convert patients
  • present treatment choices efficiently with genuine informed consent.

How to predictably have patients book in for treatment

Presented by Dr Becky Chen

Often times, we might dread patients’ rejection or objections. However, it is only when we tackle the obstacles head-on that we can predictably gain consistent case acceptance from our patients. Learn how to onboard the patient with a treatment plan you are proud to deliver.

You will learn to:

  • bring the patient along the journey to improve their oral health
  • discuss treatment costs clearly
  • clear obstacles which may prevent patients from case acceptance
  • close the deal and perform an effective handover.

How to fearlessly practise at the ceiling of your scope. Tips & tricks

Presented by Dr Kalyan Voruganti

Don’t let fear get the best of you, it’s tough being a new graduate. It can be nerve racking managing patients, performing procedures and upskilling - while comparing yourself to your peers on social media. We will cover simple, effective ways to give you the confidence you need, even when things aren’t going to plan.

You will learn to:

  • know when to tackle a new procedure and when to refer
  • begin that new procedure confidently
  • get help when things aren’t going to plan without losing face in front of the patient
  • deal with difficult patients.
