1. Restoration of the root canal treated tooth 
On completion of the lecture participants will be able to: 

  • Define the outcome you want to achieve for the patient following root canal treatment. Risk assessment prognosis. 
  • Discuss the principles required to achieve the desired outcome
  • Discuss how to implement the principles during root canal treatment. Risk management.

2. Managing fatigue fractures in teeth 
On completion of the lecture participants will be able to: 

  • Describe the biology of the dental hard tissues and fractures 
  • Classify fatigue fractures in teeth 
  • Be aware of the epidemiology of fatigue fractures in teeth 
  • Describe the clinical management of fatigue fractures in teeth.

A/Prof Phillippe Zimet 

Phillippe Zimet is the Associate Professor in Endodontics at the La Trobe University School of Dentistry and Oral Health. 

He obtained his Masters Degree from the University of Maryland in Baltimore, USA.  A/Prof Zimet is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, The Academy of Dentistry International and The International College of Dentists. 

He has published and lectured nationally and internationally in many aspects of endodontics and infection control.

He is a past president of the Australian Society of Endodontology (Federal) Inc and the Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation. 

In 2004 A/Prof Zimet was awarded the ADAVB Dentistry Achievement Award for services to the dental profession.  A/Prof Zimet edited the Systematic Operating Procedure Manual for Infection Control for the ADAVB. This has been adopted by the Australian Dental Association federally as the standard of infection control in dental practices.

In 2014 A/Prof Zimet was accepted as an Honorary Life Member of the Australian Society of Endodontology (Vic). In 2016 he was inaugurated as a foundation member of the International Association for Dental Traumatology.
