SDI Dental Materials Factory Tour
Ever wondered where dental materials come from, and how they are made? We have a wonderful opportunity to do a tour of the SDI factory in Bayswater where glass ionomer, composite resins, dentine bonding agents, bleaching products and much more are all created. I have done this factory tour some years ago and can tell you it was fascinating; like Willy Wonker’s experience, but for dentists. Actually, there’s no golden wrapper for a glass ionomer packet, so no one will inherit the company! But as well as the factory tour we have been promised some lunch, hands on experience using their materials, and take away show bags of dental materials. And it’s all free! There are only 20 places available so it’s first come first served, so reserve your place soon.
Run Order
1. Welcome introduction with lunch
2. A short intro lecture on the SDI factory history, set up and OHS, and some materials science knowhow.
3. Safety gear donning and the factory tour
4. Lecture on clinical usage of the materials we had seen being manufactured
5. Hands on session to handle the materials.
6. Finish with show bag of samplesdon Street, Bayswater, Victoria 3153
