This event will cover:

Lecture 1 – Complications from Extractions: Tips & Tricks
Practical guidance on preventing and managing common extraction complications, with clinical tips for general dentists. Includes tools, techniques, and referral decision-making.

Lecture 2 – Removable Prosthodontics
Covers common pitfalls in denture work, such as managing resorbed ridges and designing hygienic prostheses. Includes real-world cases and practical advice to improve outcomes.

Lecture 3 – Stainless Steel Crowns & Paediatric Techniques
Focus on managing advanced caries in children using stainless steel crowns, including the Hall technique and pulpotomy. Emphasis on avoiding GA/sedation and effective in-chair behaviour strategies.

Lecture 4 – Managing Back Pain & Posture
Addresses musculoskeletal challenges in dentistry with actionable exercises, ergonomic tips, and daily strategies to reduce injury and strain.

Lecture 5 – Digital Workflow in Fixed Pros & Aesthetic Dentistry

Lecture 6 – AI in Dentistry
A forward-looking session on the role of AI in diagnostics, note-taking, and clinical support. Will explore benefits, current limitations, and where AI may lead dental care in the coming years.

Speakers

Dr Sophia Richardson 

Dr Sophia Richardson is a Melbourne-trained oral and maxillofacial surgeon, with international experience. She obtained her dental and medical degrees at the University of Melbourne, then completed oral and maxillofacial surgery training in Victoria (2011).

Dr Richardson chose to further subspecialise in orthognathic surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (2012), and was appointed Clinical Fellow at The Oxford University Hospitals Trust, UK (2013-2014).

Dr Richardson is currently in private practice in Fitzroy North, at Queens Parade Specialists; and shares rooms with her husband who is a Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon, and an Oral Medicine Clinician.

Dr Simon Wylie 

Dr Wylie completed his Bachelor of Dental Science at Melbourne University in 1990 and subsequently worked for a year at Alice Springs Community Dental Health. In 1992, he returned to Melbourne for postgraduate studies and completed his Masters in Prosthodontics in 1993. He spent the next two years as Assistant Professor in Prosthodontics at The University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.

Since his return from Canada, he has been practising as a specialist prosthodontist in Melbourne and Geelong. Dr Wylie continues to be a clinical instructor at The University of Melbourne teaching in the program for specialist training. He is also actively involved with continuing education and lectures regularly on a national level. Dr Wylie is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and a faculty member for the Graduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry at Charles Sturt University.

Dr Dilhan Rajasingham 

Dr Dilhan Rajasingham is a multi-qualified healthcare entrepreneur with an extensive career in healthcare, dentistry, business, and leadership. Having qualified in 2012 from the University of Adelaide, he has provided clinical care in rural, suburban and metropolitan private practice settings. Additionally, he holds an MBA, GAICD and GDip in Orthodontics.

Dilhan currently practices at the Maven Dental Collins Street clinic in the Melbourne CBD, engaging digital dentistry and effective workflows to maximise the full potential of technology assisted healthcare.

Further, he is an ADAVB Councillor and Chair of the Federal DIDHC Committee. 

Dr Rajasingham holds roles globally within multiple digital healthtech companies and advisory boards, along with consulting for healthcare and tech start-up and scale-ups. 

Dilhan's clinical and innovation experience enables a diverse and unique perspective on the patient experience, but also how to educate clinicians to be the most engaging in their practice, through communication, integration of technology and building effective workflows.

Dr Kunal Pandya 

Dr Pandya is a specialist prosthodontist in Collins Street, Melbourne. He teaches on the specialist training program at The University of Melbourne and has a keen interest in conservative dentistry.

Dr Rana Yawary 

Rana is a Specialist Paediatric Dentist based in Melbourne. She works both as a consultant at the Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne and in her private practice located in Footscray; Melbourne Paediatric Dentistry. Prior to joining the Royal Children’s, she worked as the State Oral Health Advisor for Dental Health Services Victoria.
