This course will enable participants to become proficient and confident in the administration of nitrous oxide in clinical practice. It is an introduction to the use of relative analgesia (RA), offering an excellent refresher for dentists wishing to update their knowledge and practical skills in the delivery of RA.
- practical application of the use of RA on patients
- usage of RA armamentarium
- appropriate maintenance and sterilisation of equipment
- indications and contra-indications of RA.
You will learn how to:
- understand the legal requirements for RA use
- understand the indications, limitations and advantages of using RA
- use RA properly
- appropriately bill for RA procedures.

Dr Michael Walker
Dr Michael Walker is a private practitioner with a sedation practice in Waterloo, Sydney. He is a clinical senior lecturer at the University of Sydney, teaching sedation and emergency medicine to undergraduate and post graduate students.
Dr Walker is one of the most senior and experienced educators in nitrous oxide sedation, with local and international recognition and teaching experience in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
Dr Walker is well known for teaching nitrous oxide sedation in a practically orientated manner, so that the participants gain skills and confidence to immediately provide effective nitrous oxide sedation to their patients.
Dr Angelo Preketes
BDS(Sydney), Grad Dip Clin Dent (oral implants), Grad Dip Clin Dent (conscious sedation and pain control).
Dr Angelo Preketes is the secretary for the Australian Society of Dental Anaesthesiology. He teaches undergraduate students and postgraduate dentists nitrous oxide , intravenous sedation, local anaesthesia and managing medical emergencies. Dr Preketes is also a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney and VDO at the Westmead hospital IV sedation unit.
He is an ALS 1 and 2 provider, practising privately in Sydney CBD where he focuses on providing pain management techniques to deal with phobic, anxious patients - as well as implant and general dentistry to all ages.
