Seeing the wood for the trees: Holistic treatment planning for patients with complex needs

This presentation will use case studies to demonstrate the process of gathering and filtering relevant information for patients with complex medical, physical, social, behavioural and psychological needs. Learn how to integrate this information to formulate a comprehensive and appropriate treatment plan. The group of patients presented will include those with various medical conditions and disabilities that may be encountered in general dental practice, with practical tips for management by the general dentist.

You will learn how to:

  • gather and sort relevant information for patients with complex needs
  • use the Rational Dental Treatment Planning approach to develop an appropriate and holistic dental treatment plan.

Presented by Dr Helen McInnes

A reflective and responsive IPC experience

This program will provide an overview of guidelines and current requirements. Focusing on standard and transmission based precautions, it will include lessons learnt in the pandemic and ways you can protect yourself and your practice, as well as simplify things into the future. Demonstrations will include mask and respirators use, waterline management, surface soiling, barriers and wiping techniques. In reprocessing, we will identify common pitfalls and inefficiencies by focusing on principles that ensure you will come away understanding the key compliance aspects. This session will use a range of media to convey and demonstrate IPC concepts practically.

When registering for this program, you can submit your questions via email  practiceplus@adavb.org  Every effort will be made to incorporate answers to these into the presentation. All questions must be IPC related.

Some practices may wish to take the opportunity of a personalised program in their practice.  These will be subject to availability. If you are interested in Amanda visiting your surgery, please contact ibby.chaudhary@adavb.org
