Occlusion is a complex topic made more confusing with many theories, definitions, dogmas and conflicting evidence that lands it in the 'too hard' basket for many. We will simplify several of the key concepts to help with understanding why annoying stuff happens in your practice!
- The nature of forces and biomechanics in occlusion
- Some of the anatomy and neurophysiology associated with occlusal concepts
- Some basic occlusal concepts
- The difference in occlusion in relation to TMD and restorative dentistry.

Dr Thomas Giblin
Dr Thomas Giblin is a Sydney-based prosthodontist with an interest in implants, complex restorative dentistry and occlusion. He graduated from Sydney University in 2004 and completed his prosthodontics training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2010. He currently serves as the president Elect of the ICOI and is involved with the International Academy of Gnathology in the USA. He also teaches courses at his practice on topics such as occlusion, implants and removable prosthetics.
