COVID-19 - keeping members up to date

Today the Victorian Premier announced that he will proceed with a shut-down of all non-essential activity across Victoria over the next 48 hours to combat the spread of COVID-19.

We have been in constant communication with the Health Minister’s office over the past month as this pandemic has escalated, however there was no prior consultation regarding this announcement.

We have previously been advised by the Federal Government that dentistry is considered an essential service. At this stage we have been informed that healthcare, including dentistry, is considered essential in Victoria. However, we are seeking urgent clarification from the Victorian Government on exactly what areas of dentistry may need to be deferred.

The ADA and branches are holding an emergency meeting tonight and we will provide more information to members once it becomes available. Members should refer to the ADA's COVID-19 resources at ada.org.au/covid19 (member login required) for daily updates.
