COVID-19 update: New cases and exposure sites in Victoria

We are closely monitoring the current COVID-19 outbreak in Victoria, with more cases announced linked to the Maribyrnong cluster.

Masks

Face masks must be worn indoors, including in workplaces and schools. This means all staff must wear a face mask in all areas of the dental practice (not just when treating patients) and patients must wear a face mask in the reception area. The face mask requirement applies to everyone aged 12 years and older unless an exemption applies. Masks must also be worn outdoors if social distancing of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained.

Screening

Practices should continue to screen patients for symptoms and if they have been at any of the potential exposure sites. Practices near Tier 1 and Tier 2 exposure sites need to be on alert for staff and patients who may have inadvertently crossed paths with potential carriers. You should defer treatment for anyone reporting symptoms or anyone who has been at one of the exposure sites.
