COVID-19 vaccination information regulations have changed
WorkSafe Victoria has updated guidance for employers regarding pandemic regulations that were put in place to assist with the collection, recording, holding and use of COVID-19 vaccination information provided by employees.
Those regulations expired on 12 July 2023, which means that employers now have 30 days to dispose of any COVID-19 related vaccination information they hold.
The destruction of information requirement does not apply to employers who are permitted or required under other laws to collect, use, record or hold vaccination information.
Employers are reminded that a person's COVID-19 vaccination status is health information protected by other legislation, such as the Health Records Act.
