Oral Health Promotion at the April Pregnancy, Babies & Children's Expo
The ADAVB Oral Health Committee was pleased to host a stand at the April 2026 Pregnancy, Babies & Children’s Expo, held in Melbourne on 18–19 April.
The Expo offered a great opportunity to connect with the Victorian community at a time when oral health is especially important—during pregnancy and early childhood.

Throughout the event, our volunteer dentists provided free oral health advice and support to parents and expectant parents. There was strong interest in building healthy habits early, with many visitors asking about the right age for a child’s first dental visit, how to choose suitable toothbrushes and toothpastes and practical ways to care for young children’s teeth.
We also received some thoughtful questions, including concerns about teeth grinding in children and how to help a child return to brushing after a medical trauma—highlighting the range of challenges families can face.

As with previous events, the stand featured a selection of ADAVB-branded resources, including the ever-popular ‘Oral Health Milestone’ magnet. The children’s book Who is the Tooth Fairy’s Best Friend? by Cathryn Carboon was also a standout. Attendees were able to take home ADA-branded fact sheets and other helpful resources, along with a variety of children’s and adult toothbrushes and toothpastes, which proved very popular.
A big thank you to our wonderful volunteers—Dr Dana Horng, Ms Salina Manandhar, Dr Marjan Ardebili, Ms Ritweeka Shrestha, Dr Ed Karim, Dr Samin Abdekhodaee, Dr Anusha Gopathy, and Ms Sujitha Pai—for so generously giving their time and expertise. We simply couldn’t take part in the Expo without their support.
