April Highlights – Bursaries, Babies, National Advocacy, and More!
We were thrilled with the response we received for the 2025 ADAVB BOQ Specialist Bursaries. Selecting this year’s winners was a challenging task, but after much deliberation we were pleased to announce the following worthy recipients:
- Practice Bursary Winner - Dr Shehan Abeysinghe and the team at Hastings Family Dental Care
- Recent Graduate Bursary Winner - Dr Adrita Arif from Cobram Dental Clinic
- Recent Graduate Runner-Up - Dr Oren Bernhart of DentalCare Carnegie

The ADAVB team was pleased to be back at the Pregnancy, Babies & Children’s Expo in April, engaging with the community to promote positive oral health habits at this key stage of life. Our experienced group of volunteers offered free dental health advice and support to parents and expectant parents, which was received with enthusiasm by those in attendance.
The ADA is the national voice for dentists, dentistry and oral health in Australia.
Together, we advocate for the profession across the Federal Parliament, with national regulators such as Ahpra and the National Boards, and key Commonwealth departments. The ADA Consultation Hub invites members to add your voice and help shape submissions on dental regulations, workforce, oral health policy and other issues that matter to members and our profession.
We are excited to share the news that the ADAVB will be bringing the hugely popular hands-on, practical Endodontic Refresher Intensive Workshop to Victoria in July.
Led by Associate Professor Geoffrey Young, Associate Professor Mark Evans and Dr Mark Johnstone, you’ll have the chance to learn how to effectively integrate important technological advancements into daily practice and explore advances in endodontic imaging, instrumentation, root canal disinfection, root filling, and materials.
Taking place at the new state-of-the-art facility at La Trobe University in Bendigo, this course is well worth travelling for! To learn more about this workshop, and the other exciting CPD Events that are coming up, click here.
