Tune into the latest Dental Central podcasts

Listen to not one but two inspiring stories this month on our Dental Central podcast.

To celebrate International Women's Day, we spoke to Mikaela Welti, a former rugby player with the Melbourne Rebels and now successful business owner and boxer at Tribute Boxing. Mikaela is also an ambassador for the eviDent Foundation's Mouthguard March. Tune in to hear about her career with the Melbourne Rebels and transitioning to boxing, being a role model for young female athletes, the importance of pay equity for female sports, promoting mouthguard use, setting goals and staying fit and healthy.

Elsh Getenet was born to Ethiopian parents in a refugee camp in Kenya and moved to Canada at the age of six. He dreamt of playing basketball in the NBA and got as far as playing basketball at school in the USA before an injury closed that door. Undeterred, Elsh was inspired to become a dentist, and moved to Melbourne to study. How does an international student support themselves through dental school in the middle of a pandemic? The answer has something to do with coffee and donuts – but it’s better to hear Elsh tell the story.
