Welcome Dr Maria Guida

At the end of April 2025, the ADAVB welcomed Dr Maria Guida to the Dental Consultants team. We asked her to reflect on her professional journey prior to starting with the ADAVB and what she is most excited about as she enters her new role.

What is your professional background?

I hold a Bachelor of Dental Science and have over 30 years’ experience within the dental industry. I have held roles as a general dentist, practice owner, clinical supervisor for University of Melbourne (UoM) DDS1 and DDS4, examiner for DDS4 students at UoM, Australian Dental Council examiner, and as the Head of HR consulting for a mid-tier Australian software company with a global presence and international workforce.

What inspired you to join the ADAVB as a Dental Consultant? What are you most looking forward to in your role?

I have been a member of the ADA since my university days and regularly availed myself of their member services, which I found of great practical value.

Having departed clinical practice, I saw this as an opportunity to use my knowledge and experience to provide the sort of help to members that I often received and found very valuable.

I have always been a great believer and advocate in the role that the ADAVB plays to support practitioners and felt this was a great opportunity to contribute to the profession.

The ADAVB’s commitment to supporting members and professional excellence resonates with my personal values and I am excited about the opportunity to meet and liaise with the members of the ADAVB.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love to play Tennis. I have been taking lessons for 10 years and I am still not very good but I love it. I am also an avid Carlton supporter, and we have a beautiful golden retriever called Patrick (named after my favourite Carlton player). I enjoy going to the footy and taking our dog on various dog-friendly walks on the Mornington Peninsula.
