Simplifying the complexities of removable prosthodontics

The ADAVB has teamed up with Melbourne Dental School to bring you a special three-part series of courses on removable prostheses.

Combining two webinars and a hands-on workshop, the sessions explore removable prostheses from all angles – from the pros and cons for combining dental implants and complete or partial removable prostheses, to the practical steps of complete and partial removable prosthodontics.

A/Prof Jaafar Abduo, presenter for two of the sessions (the introductory webinar and hands-on workshop) explains that ‘The discipline of removable prosthodontics has its own peculiarities compared with other fields of dentistry.

‘No single recipe or set of measurements can be applied for every patient. This is further complicated by the variable patient response and acceptance of removable prostheses, and the subjectivity associated with it. As a result, many clinicians perceive removable prosthodontics as a complex field.’

The removable prostheses courses aim to simplify the complexities.

A/Prof Jaafar Abduo is an Associate Professor in Prosthodontics and Convener of the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Implants), and Convener of Removable Prosthodontics at the Melbourne Dental School. You can learn more about his background and CPD sessions in this month’s Victorian Dentist.

There is still time to book for parts 2 and 3 of the removable prostheses courses:
